THE CAMPUS @KNIGHTS
The Campus @Knights
A bespoke Knights high school experience
At Knights we have always had an innovative and forward-thinking approach to education. We also have a very inclusive approach and believe that every child God brings here has a space at our school, it’s how we partner with parents to bring out the best in each child. We fundamentally believe in student agency, giving them a voice, choice and ownership in their own learning journey.
Our High School model is different to the traditional model in that our focus is on an inquiry pedagogical approach. The Campus @Knights was launched in January 2023. It was the culmination of a long-awaited vision, a testament to our unwavering commitment to providing a unique high school experience, where our students have their identity deeply rooted in Christ and are equipped with the skill set to achieve academic excellence, even though that journey will look different for each individual student. We’re proud to offer a unique dual-accreditation programme, equipping our students with both the esteemed South African Matric qualification and the globally recognised American Diploma. This opens a world of opportunities, allowing our students to pursue all higher education pathways both locally and internationally.
At Knights, we redefine education by embracing innovation and fostering an environment where students are encouraged to think critically, dream boldly, and discover their God-given talents. Our unique approach to learning ensures that every aspect of a student’s development – academic, spiritual and personal and emotional – is both nurtured with care and dedication, as well as designed to bring out each student’s individual strengths.
Join us on this extraordinary journey as we embark on an adventure of transformation, where your child’s perspective on learning will be forever changed, and their divine calling illuminated. Together, let’s unlock the full potential of your child and witness the power of God at work in their lives. Experience the difference of a true Knights Education. Enrol today and witness your child come alive like never before!
Vision
Talents are God-given and the way we think and live establishes the platform for success. The reality of life is nestled in our daily existence and our dreams and ambitions form our true self. At Knights Pre School, we link our faith with our dreams and realities. Dedicated, Christian teachers, committed support staff, involved parents, and visionary leadership form the median for success, the building blocks for future well being and internal self-realisation. This creates a positive school environment with high expectations for life.
Values
Compassion
Inspired by the teachings of Christ, we cultivate a culture of compassion, where students are encouraged to empathise with others, extend kindness, and serve their community with love and grace.
Community
Our school is more than just a place of learning; it’s a vibrant community where students, educators, and families come together in fellowship and unity, supporting and uplifting one another in faith and friendship.
Courage
Guided by biblical principles, we empower our students to embrace courage in the face of challenges, to stand firm in their beliefs, and to pursue their dreams with confidence and resilience.
Curiosity
We foster a spirit of curiosity and exploration, inspiring students to seek knowledge, ask questions, and engage in meaningful inquiry as they discover God’s truth in all aspects of life.
Academics
In the Senior Phase, we adopt a dynamic approach to learning that combines inquiry-based methods with a top-down approach. This strategic blend is designed to cultivate the essential skill set necessary for our students to excel at the FET Phase and beyond.
Inquiry-based learning lies at the heart of our pedagogical approach. Here, students are not passive recipients of information but active participants in their own education journey. They are encouraged to ask probing questions, seek answers, draw connections, reflect on their learning, and take meaningful action. This immersive approach fosters a deeper understanding of concepts and encourages critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Traditionally, education has often focused on the mere collection, retention, and regurgitation of facts. However, at our school, we recognise the limitations of such an approach, instead prioritising the development of collaboration and effective communication skills. We understand that these skills are integral to success in our modern world and must be intentionally cultivated rather than acquired incidentally.
Through a rigorous learning process that emphasises exploration and high-level questioning, we challenge our students to make real-world connections and engage with complex concepts. By encouraging curiosity, fostering collaboration, and promoting effective communication, we prepare our students to excel academically and thrive in an ever-evolving global landscape.
During the FET phase, our students engage with our enhanced curriculum that is essential for success in their final examinations. Our dedicated teachers meticulously guide students through the curriculum content while fostering the development of critical skills. Through interactive lessons and practical applications, students acquire a deep understanding of the subject matter and hone their analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
As the final examination period approaches, we focus on intensive preparation tailored to each student’s unique needs. Our teachers and tutors provide targeted support and guidance, ensuring that students are well-equipped to excel in their examinations. Supporting the non-elective subjects—Mathematics, English, Life Orientation and a First Additional Language—students can choose three other subjects, allowing them to tailor their academic path to align with their strengths, interests and future aspirations.
Through collaborative consultations involving students, parents and educators, we carefully craft personalised study plans, ensuring that each student receives the resources and support necessary to thrive academically and achieve their desired outcomes.
Additionally, we offer the option of an American Diploma, which opens doors for international study opportunities. Partnered with HomeLife Academy, our students will be enrolled in the American Diploma programme starting in Grade 9, where they begin gaining credits towards graduation. This programme provides a flexible and adaptive approach to education, with students having the option to follow this route exclusively from Grade 10.
By using life as their classroom, students can tailor their education plans to fit their individual needs and interests, allowing for a more personalised learning experience. This flexibility means that students can adjust their educational journey as necessary, ensuring that their learning is relevant and engaging.
We are dedicated to creating a pathway that fosters an environment with less academic pressure and anxiety. Our focus is on the holistic development of each student, nurturing their unique talents and abilities while promoting their overall well-being. This approach helps students to thrive academically, emotionally and socially, preparing them for future success in both their personal and professional lives.
Inquiry-based learning (IBL) in a high school setting is an educational approach that centres around students actively engaging in the learning process by asking questions, investigating concepts, and seeking answers. At our campus, our Inquiry-based Learning subject for the Senior Phase is designed to cultivate crucial approaches to learning that are essential for future success in the workplace.
Through this approach, students develop a range of skills, including research and information extraction, social and communication skills through collaborative work, and self-management skills such as time management and executive functioning. These skills are integral for navigating the complexities of the modern world and preparing students for the demands of higher education and the workforce.
Our Inquiry-based learning curriculum exposes students to a diverse range of subjects, including business studies, social studies, and art and culture, complementing our other learning subjects. By engaging in inquiry-based learning, students not only deepen their understanding of core subjects but also develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills that are vital for their academic and professional growth.
Extra-curricular Offering
At our school, we believe in providing a well-rounded experience that encompasses both sporting and cultural pursuits, since participating in these activities is a valuable life skill that should be developed from a young age. By enhancing the educational experience through gym, Pilates and a general fitness club, students understand the importance of physical fitness and develop lifelong habits that promote their overall well-being.
Our students also have the opportunity to participate and develop skills in a variety of seasonal sporting disciplines, including swimming, netball, basketball, football and 7s rugby. These sports are open to both girls and boys, fostering inclusivity and a sense of camaraderie among all students. For those aspiring to pursue sports at a professional level, we have established connections with high-level clubs to facilitate advanced training and skill development.
In addition to our sporting programme, we offer opportunities for students to explore their vocational calling and gain exposure to various career paths available in the job market. Through practical life skills training, students are equipped with the tools necessary to navigate life beyond the classroom successfully. Furthermore, we prioritise the spiritual development of our students, empowering them to share and spread the Gospel. With guidance from the Holy Spirit, we encourage students to lead others to Jesus and deepen their understanding of the Father’s heart, fostering a sense of purpose and service within our school community.
On the cultural front, our students have the opportunity to lead Praise and Worship sessions, fostering creativity and spiritual growth through music. Additionally, we are expanding our cultural offerings to include activities such as marimbas, drama and public speaking, providing students with opportunities to explore and express their talents.
Our extracurricular program further enhances student development by focusing on practical skill-building sessions such as cooking, welding and basic real-life skills. These sessions, offered on a termly basis, allow students to choose and attend sessions that align with their interests and aspirations, equipping them with essential life skills needed to thrive in society.
Kingdom Building
We firmly believe that each child in our school is uniquely gifted and called by God for a specific purpose. Encouraging students to discover and embrace their individual talents and abilities is at the core of our educational philosophy. As a school, we see it as our responsibility to steward these gifts in a way that empowers students to confidently live out their God-given destinies, ultimately bringing honour and glory to Him.
Our commitment to nurturing spiritual growth is reflected in our Kingdom Building lessons, held twice a week. During these sessions, youth pastors join us to guide students in exploring their identity in Christ. Through candid discussions and group activities, students engage with real-life struggles and controversial issues they face in today’s world. We challenge their beliefs and ideals, encouraging them to seek guidance from the Holy Spirit and form their own convictions.
At the heart of our school is a close-knit family and community united by our love for Jesus. Unashamedly, our children and community seek to glorify His name in all aspects of school life. Through our outreach program, we equip students to boldly share the Gospel, empowering them to impact the world around them with the love and truth of Christ.
